Michelle and Ben’s Pre Wedding Photo Shoot at Gum Gully Farm in Silvan.

For some couples, wedding day photos can feel overwhelming. That’s why Michelle and Ben decided to do a pre wedding photo shoot at Gum Gully Farm in Silvan.

The Love Story

Michelle and Ben met almost seven years ago when mutual friends invited them to a cherry-picking farm. Through the years, the two have purchased a house together and supported each other through various chapters of their personal and professional lives.

Ben describes their relationship as a partnership, and Michelle loves the respect and support Ben has for her career and personality. More than anything, the two complement each other in the best way possible.

The Proposal

No matter how often I hear a proposal story, they never get old. Ben planned to propose to Michelle at their home, so to help make sure everything was ready, he got the help of Michelle’s sister and her partner. After Ben took Michelle out, her sister got to work setting up a romantic proposal with candles everywhere.

But when Michelle’s sister went to open the curtains, one of the candles was too close, and they caught on fire. Fortunately, they could put it out quickly before Ben and Michelle got home. Once they got home, Ben got down on one knee and popped the question.

Choosing a Pre Wedding Photo Shoot Location

Michelle and Ben decided to have a pre wedding photo shoot before their wedding in November to get over the nerves and give themselves a practice run before the big day. They decided on Gum Gully Farm in Silvan for the location after finding it on Instagram and absolutely fell in love with the deer.

They both love animals and Gum Gully Farm reminded them of their travels to Miyajima Island in Japan; an island inhabited by hundreds of deer. It felt right to include these furry friends in their enagement photos. The location was breathtaking, which made for a gorgeous shoot. Together, we captured the love, support and respect that these two share while also having a bit of fun.

Benefits of an Engagement Shoot

If you’re tossing up whether you’ll take pre wedding photos, here are a few benefits of engagement shoots:

  • It gives you more time to sink into the moment. A million and one thoughts are going through your head during your wedding, making it hard to settle into the moment. The only thing to think about with an engagement shoot is you and your partner.
  • You have photos of the two of you outside of your wedding attire. Engagement photos are timeless because you’re typically photographed in everyday clothes vs a wedding dress and suit. You’ll have these photos to cherish forever.
  • It’s only you, your partner and the photographer. When you take engagement photos, it’s just you, your partner and the photographer. With fewer people, you might feel more comfortable trying different poses and less nervous about what your guests are doing.

The Wedding Day

Ben and Michelle are getting married on November 5th at Quat Quatta. The wedding theme is whimsical, romantic and rustic with pastel and blush colours. The style they love for their photos is light and airy with lots of getting ready, ceremony and detail shots. The two are looking forward to saying their vows and officially becoming Mr and Mrs.

Visit Gum Gully Farm

Gum Gully Farm was a really fun location for a pre wedding photo shoot. Set outside, there was plenty of natural light and the deer made for a fun, relaxed atmosphere. If you’re interested in organising a pre wedding photography shoot in Melbourne, let’s schedule a call so you can tell me what you’re dreaming up. From there, I’ll work my magic to create elegant images that will last a lifetime.
