With Season 2 of Bridgerton set to grace our screens this month, more and more couple are taking inspiration and asking me on how they can create their own Bridgerton themed wedding. Here are my 5 tips to achieve just that!
“To meet a beautiful woman is one thing, but to meet your best friend in the most beautiful of women is something entirely apart.” — Simon Basset
With sweeping lines, romantic allure and opulent aesthetics, all of us were immediately enchanted by the series Bridgerton. An old-world gossip, amazing storyline and emotional intensity that we all crave; is what kept us wanting for more as the chapters unfolded. However, one of the main elements that was incredibly spellbinding was the opulence of the Regency era. Immersing in all those gorgeous dresses, colours, and breathtaking architecture with timeless interiors. While dreaming of manors and palaces, it’s not that hard to tie this aesthetic with your own love story and imagine hosting a Bridgerton themed wedding.
If your heart longs for a Bridgerton themed wedding that would be seamlessly tailored into your own special day, I’m here to tell you that it’s completely possible. Evoke the beauty of the era and infuse it with contemporary flair with the following 5 tips!
Consider a regency inspired wedding colour palette
It all starts with choosing regency blue to define your signature Bridgerton inspired wedding theme. This romantic hue was often used with Prussian blue in many European manors to portray a light ambience. When combined with whites, pastel pinks, and even a hint of muted pinks can create aesthetic perfection when it comes to your Bridgerton inspired wedding decor. Your tablescape will be a reflection of this, featuring a touch of whimsy and cooling neutral tones to bring the whole style together.
I would also suggest adding a dash of lilac or lavender, in order to bring more diversity into the composition. This is best reflected in the lush floral designs, stationery and of course, the table setting elements such as the linens, silks and glassware. Add a bit of green foliage and you will have a colour palette that compliments everything with elegance. These colours are also amazing for any historical venue as they elevate those darker wooden tones.
Choose a Bridgerton style wedding venue
Selecting the perfect venue will set the tone of your celebration. Europe boasts Bridgerton themed wedding venues, but where to look if you are at the other end of the world? For weddings in Australia that embody this magnificence, here are my suggestions:
The George Ballroom
An ode to historical allure and interior grandeur! This epochal venue has been hosting events for almost a century. Being built back in the 1860s, now it channels the same original period beauty, featuring gorgeous high ceilings, bespoke lighting, large windows allowing dreamy light to filer in. The wooden floors, unique heritage walls and lobby that is tailored in art-deco style are simply swoon worth. Weddings are hosted indoors, making it a safe option for Melbourne’s rainy days. The venue can host up to 150 of your guests so it is perfect for any kind of celebration.
Abbotsford Convent
Imagine wandering through heritage gardens, tying the knot in a lovely chapel, marvelling at the heritage architecture and having your own courtyard to celebrate in. Did I mention the towering grand oak tree that is nestled along the Yarra river? Abbotsford Convent paints the perfect picture to sneak away with your photographer, creating the most beautifully intimate and timeless, romantic images. When it is time for the reception, simply proceed towards the Rosina Function Space. There your guests will feel transported back in time, straight into a Bridgerton wedding in Australia. This 19th-century venue is one of the most magical, offering a plethora of possibilities for your wedding celebration!
Werribee Mansion
A mansion, a grand estate with manicured English gardens, a tranquil atmosphere and the intimacy you desire in order to keep things private from Lady Whistledown – even though I doubt that is highly possible. After all, she is a master of secrets. This estate has so much to offer, and each space is more beautiful than the other. What is more important, it is perfectly aligned in the name of a Bridgerton themed wedding. Curate a bespoke event outdoors or indoors and choose between The Pavilion, The Theatre, The Mansion Marquee or The Ballroom. Adorn your most important day with unparalleled elegance and opulence.
Quat Quatta
If you are looking to embody luxury and elegance with classic flair, this mansion will host your event beautifully. Take your partner’s hand and get lost in dreamy gardens while savouring the newlywed feel. With its clean lines and modern architectural touch, the venue offers a myriad of possibilities to style your Bridgerton themed wedding. Adoring the parquet floor in the Ballroom, the iconic high ceilings and that soft draping, gives at perfect regency flair.
Imagine a Bridgerton style wedding dress
In order to evoke that special style in the 21st century, think along the lines of timeless dress designs that feature off-shoulder elegance or modern romantic gowns with puff sleeves and sheer design.
Including a sheer ethereal veil with modern touches like pearl adornment or floral applique adds to your overall look.
If a bold statement is what you’re after, then a floral patterned design or a regency blue toned dress will enchant everyone – and with colour and pastel tones being on trend for wedding dresses 2022, what better way to show off your inner fashionista with classic style?
Choosing Bridgerton wedding themed paper goods
I recommend going for a bespoke or semi-customisable stationery design printed on handmade paper. Including elements like seals, cameos, gibbons, floral envelope liners, in colour palettes of blues, pastels and violets can elevate the entire look. For an extra luxe yet romantic feel, you can include hand addressed calligraphy envelopes or have your venue illustrated as an added statement within your invitation suite.
Think about classical style wedding music
You’re probably thinking that Bridgerton style music (a.k.a. classical tunes) probably won’t encourage you or your guests to get on the dance floor. So during canapés or cocktail hour, why not hire a 4 string quartet or harpist to entertain your guests with popular hits wonderfully performed with a classical twist. Intertwine modern tunes with old instruments, and you get magic.
I hope that my tips have inspired your senses and you are already dreaming of personalising and curating your own Bridgerton themed wedding. If you need romantic wedding photography to portray your celebration, get in touch! I would be delighted to witness your breathtaking affair.
