A Story Of Timeless Elegance + Overflowing Warmth | Alto Event Space Melbourne
Kat and Marcus held their beautiful wedding at Alto Event Space in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. They have one of those stories that almost didn’t happen. They met on E-Harmony and had both already decided to close their accounts after a string of mediocre dates. When they got their ‘you have a match’ emails and decided to give it one more shot, they had no idea the incredible journey they were about to embark on together.
The proposal…
Even before Kate and Marcus got married, they’d already moved in together, built a business, had a child, and bought a house – they always liked to dance to the beat of their own drums!
The proposal happened at Kat’s Mother’s birthday party. Marcus put his chef skills to use, secretly creating a chocolate plaque with the words ‘Will You Marry Me’ on it. When he got down on one knee, there were tears and smiles (and cake!) all-round. The surprise proposal was an extra cherry on the figurative cake for the family as it was at that same party that they announced that Kat was, at long last, pregnant.
“The wedding was a perfect reflection of Kat and Marcus- elegant, down to earth, and overflowing with warmth.”
The preparation…
Although the day started with some low-hanging clouds and a tiny sprinkle of rain, the weather held and the lighting was perfect for the first look photos on the rooftop of Hamer Hall on Southbank and the portraits at the rustic Victoria Barracks.
The ceremony…
The whole wedding was put together to reflect Kat and Marcus and their relationship: elegant, down to earth, and overflowing with love and warmth. Kat’s simple dress had no lace or frills, but it was tailor-made to have the perfect fit and silhouette while Marcus stood out in a modern blue suit. The contemporary Alto Event Space wedding was decorated with magnolia leaves and eucalyptus gums blended with soft pink English roses and peonies.
The details…
You could really see the thoughtfulness and love in every detail of the day, and the edible parts were no exception! The bonbonnieres were filled Marcus’ handmade white chocolate fudge, sea salted caramel, rose meringue, passionfruit marshmallow, and edible rose petals. The two-tiered cake was a mouthwatering macadamia chocolate fudge naked cake baked by some chef friends.
